I expected it to be hard but was surprised at how easy it was.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of plain flour
- 1/2 cup of salt
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
- 4 tablespoons of baking soda
- 1 cup of water
- food colouring
1. Add all the above in a saucepan and mix well. Then add the desired food colouring till you get the desired shade.
2. Then heat it over low fire. You can then see that it becomes clumpy within a minute depending how much dough you mixed.
3. Then knead it!
We used strawberry red and pandan green which smell heavenly!
Hungry caterpillar!!!
ReplyDeletelol, yes, minus the antennae :p
DeleteNice! It is really very easy to make. I use cream of tartar instead of baking soda.
ReplyDeleteYes, I saw most of the recipes use that but I do not have cream of tartar at home readily. So we substituted with baking soda. Heh
DeleteCool! We made the non-cook version and was fun too! But consistency wasn't as good - ended up too crumbly! Will try this one day :D
ReplyDeleteHey Adora,
DeleteYes, the cooked version feels a bit more like the real thing. The oil helps to make it less crumbly too. :) Some mums use Kool-Aid so you can substitute that for whatever is available locally :D
This is so cool, Alicia! I love to make my own playdough someday too! Love the caterpillar! =)
ReplyDeleteHey Summer, try it out with your girl! One of the readers tried it out on the same day and her kiddo had such a great time creating it from scratch. It actually does feel like the store bought version. If you find it crumbly, add in a bit more oil and knead well. :) ENJOY!
