Giveaway: The Rainbow Fish by I Theatre

Based on Marcus Pfister’s award winning storybook, The Rainbow Fish is very likely a “household title” for all parents to teach their children the moral of sharing and humility.

I first caught the play with Dumpling about five years ago when it was first staged by I Theatre. I recalled that Dumpling was dazzled by the colourful costumes and could relate to the story. Now, five years later, the play is back as part of the theatre company’s 15th Anniversary season special and with new characters too!

For this incarnation, I Theatre will also be including a perfect marriage of the various techniques learnt over the years, including magical black light theatre, and a blend of live action and mind blowing original puppet design; a definite treat for both the young and the old!

“A long way out in the deep blue sea swims a shoal of the most beautiful fish in the entire ocean. Their scales are every shade of blue, green or purple, and ONE has a sparking silver scale…
Meet proud and pretty Rainbow Fish, and her friends, Starfish, Small Blue, Big Violet and Little Green.
Rainbow Fish learns some very valuable lessons about her attitude to others, some hard lessons about pride and selfishness, and some valuable truths about the power of generosity and humility. Meanwhile, her friends discover how teamwork helps everyone; and how gossip and rumour can cause damage to friendships!”

I am pleased to share that I have a family package of 4 tickets to this classic tale, worth more than $120 to give away!

  3. I always remind my children to care and share. Also encourage them by rewarding them if they can do it. Although it does fail at times, as a parent, I dont give up and keep encouraging them. And yes, sometimes they do remember what I always remind them.

  16. We try to instil in them the habit of taking turns and exchanging toys as an alternative to sharing.

  17. We get them to think of ways to play together in a cooperative manner. If the fights continue, we will threaten to keep the very thing they are fighting over, so no one gets to play it. That usually stops the bickering.

  18. Sharing is caring. I will encourage everyone , not only kids, but to set a good examples of sharing to kids. And so that the kids will eventually learn from adults, and share their things among each other. Well, on the other hand, i usually buy 1 set of item and they have to be shared together :)

  24. I am an only child and have all the toys by myself. I do not have to share however, it is lonely to play by myself. I told my story to my children which I did an experiment with them. I will separate them each with their toys in their own rooms. Very soon, one will look for the other and they start to play with each other. Since then, they have no problem sharing.

  29. I would usually tell one of my boys on a tasty/interesting snack/toy/book etc and then tasked him to share it with his brother. After which, we would end up sharing our views on the food/toy/book and even discuss how we can share it with their friends!
